In order to discuss how to tackle dual passages, let's take a look at the dual passages that deal with questions 42-52 in SAT Practice Test 1 (Section 1: Reading). Like the regular passages, we want to complete the DTS Questions first so we would complete questions 45 and 48 before even reading the passages.
After completing the DTS questions, we want to read the passages. Do not read Passages 1 and 2 all at once! Instead, read Passage 1 and then complete all the relevant questions dealing with Passage 1 (Questions 42, 43, 44, 46). Next, read Passage 2 and complete the questions that deal with Passage 2 (Question 47).
Questions 49-52 deal with both passages, which we save for last. Before looking at these questions, we need to first learn about two different passage types that are typically used in dual passages:
